Daisy. Lily. and Bunny.

Kristen, Allyx, and me decided that if we couldn't spend Easter together, we would celebrate a little bit early.
And you know us - we decided to go all out.

Kristen heard that Broulim's the local grocery story was selling baby chicks. So we called Dave at 10:45, 15 minutes before they closed, and in our most innocent voices asked if he would be our hero and drive us to the grocery store. He quickly agreed, thinking th
at we desperately
needed some...."lady products" before the store closed. It wasn't until we pulled into the parking lot that he realized we didn't desperately need anything, we just wanted another pet to add to our collection we had going. :)

Welcome Daisy and Lily!
Kristen and I both bought a baby chick. They were only $3 and definitely worth it!

Allyx didn't want to be left out and as soon as she saw Bunny, she fell in love!

When our parents came to pick us up at the end of the semester they took one look at the cardboard box they were in and said "No! They aren't coming with us!"

Luckily Amanda stepped in to save the day
and took both Daisy and Lily home. Allyx's dad was a little more understanding and she got to take Bunny.

I
miss my baby chick! She was sooooo cute!

Jack's Mannequin was AMAZING!

Megan Comes to Visit

My friend MEGAN from last semester came to visit us this last weekend! She is off-track right now and went home to Cali, but she came up to visit us for a weekend! Kristen, Allyx, and me all pulled our mattresses out into the living room, and the five of us (Kristen, Kya, Megan, Allyx, and me) lived on them all weekend! It was by far the FuNnEsT weekend of the semester!Thursday night we just hung out (Kristen, Kya, Megan, Taylor and me). We went and bought some pizzas and then just chilled. When curfew rolled around Allyx, Megan Kya, and me had a fabulous BONFIRE! We needed something to burn and so we went into the laundry and found a nice little pair of lacy panties in the D.I. bucket. Cute huh? So we cut them up and each took a piece and burned them, along with anything else we could find! By the end we had a nice little bonfire going in our big, red pan and a nice headache to go along with it! Right as we were finishing up some of our guy friends called and wanted to take a middle of the night run to Ramirez - the only thing in Rexburg open past midnight! So we all piled into Kya's car and went. As soon as we got there Kristen decided to try and run up the wall. Yeah...that didn't go so well. She fell flat on her butt and hurt her knees! She hobbled into Ramirez and took down her pants to reveal a big, bruised knob on her knee! ("I had on my coat that went down to my knees almost. It wasn't like I was naked!" - Kristen). Haha.

But that was just the beginning of our fun - and Kristen's injuries! Friday morning Kristen decided that we all needed to wake up bright and early so at 9:30 she decided to look up some wonderful wake-up sounds on youtube and the rest of us woke up to a very annoying techno wake-up song...thanks Kristen! After much protest and the throwing of pillows we finally got up and had some Marshmallow Mateys (I think that I honestly had 20 bowls of them this weekend!) and got ready for our big night!
Our big night started with a BBQ! Megan and Taylor went and bought all the yummy food and we went over to Taylor's apartment and Dave cooked it all up for us! Thanks Megan and Dave! It was way yummy!

Oh wait, back up! I forgot! Friday one of our friends got his mission call to the Germany, Berlin mission! Kya made him a cute little poster and we ran over to the dorms to give it to him before our big BBQ. Kristen decided she wanted to be hardcore and just wear her spandex tights. As we were running up to the lounge door Kristen decided that once again she was going to try and fly or something like that. Well she ran right up to the glass door and fell on her face! Everyone inside just died laughing! That made 2 for 2 this weekend!

After our BBQ we went back to apartment and finished getting ready before we went to my FIRST CONCERT! It was so much fun! It was at a little venue back by K-Mart (if any of you know Rexburg) and it was the band

We Shot the Moon.
They were so good! Definitely a good first show to go to! Oh and to add to Kristen's list of injuries this weekend she got a nice fat lip! What we don't know is how she got it - if someone just headed her as they were moshing or if someone saw her and threw a punch! Lets just say we were a little too wild for some people there! (Don't worry Mom, we weren't the most wild!!) After the show the band stayed to have a killer dance party! And Megan got her arm signed by the lead singer! It was definitely the most fun dance party I've been to since I've been up here at school. Actually it was the most fun ever! There weren't a ton of people there and so we had plenty of room to go cRaZy!! So much fun!

After that we went home to get a good nights sleep before we went up to the mountain to go sNoWbOaRdInG!! This was the first time I've been in over three years! Way too long! This time Kristen decided that she would let us sleep in while she went to take her nursing test - thanks Kristen! After she got home from her test we finally decided that we would get ready to go, and like typical girls it took us all day! We took two cars and all shoved in - Taylor, Megan, Kristen, Kya, Lizzy, Dave, Jason, and me. By the time we got there we were more than ready to HiT tHe SlOpEs!

Everyone had been at least once before except for Jason, Kristen, and Kya. Kristen and Kya getting off the lift for the first time was the funniest thing ever! I'll have to try and find the video of it! Jason caught on really fast and we were snowboarding buddies all day! Kya caught on pretty fast too! Kristen...not so much...but by the end of the day she was pro! I had forgotten how much I LOVE snowboarding! It all came back to me really fast and I was able to go down all four runs! It was a blast! I definitely can't wait to go again! We all had a ton of fun but were definitely pooped by the end! The mountain was absolutely gorgeous too!

Winter 2009

Happy New Year!!

This semester is going to be...interesting!

I love my schedule! I only have 4 classes on campus and I'm taking the other two online. So I have 2 classes Monday/Wednesday, 2 classes Tuesday/Thursday and none on Friday! I like all of my classes too! I'm taking music theory, English 101, a guitar class, Book of Mormon 102, Pakistan, and environmental stewardship. My music theory one is online and I'm already 1/3 of the way done with it! I have one class that I want a different teacher in, but his class is full and no one is dropping it! I check like every 10 or 15 minutes! Haha
I've changed my schedule so many times! I just keep adding things and then I decided that I don't want to take that so I drop it, and then I decided that I really did want to take it so I add it again! Haha hopefully I'll finally figure it out!

Home for Christmas

It feels so good to be home for Christmas! I made it through finals!...barely but I made it none the less! =D
The last Sunday a few of our FHE members decided that we should have a FHE Christmas dinner. So we did. We had lasagna and enchiladas. Frozen peas, with string beans. A bowl of frozen fruit, and a can of peaches. Dinner like true college students! Most everyone came and it was really fun! Then we acted out the Nativity. It was a disaster but made for a great laugh! I’ll have to post it on here!
None of that beats being home though! Although getting here was an adventure! I had a flight out of I.F. at 1:00 it landed in Salt Lake at 2:00 and I had a flight to Seattle that left at 2:30. Well of course it snowed! And my flight from I.F. was delayed almost 2 hours! Needless to say I missed my second flight! Anyways a girl from my home ward was on my same flight to Salt Lake so we just sat and talked in the I.F. airport. When we finally got to board the plane I was so excited that I left my phone in the airport. When I got on the plane and went to turn it off I couldn’t find it anywhere! I was freaking out and then to make things worse the guy sitting next to me wouldn’t stop talking! I finally just went to sleep so I didn’t have to try to make small talk! So we got to Salt Lake and I called my mom from my friend’s phone and she called and got it suspended. Then I called another girl from my stake that was in the I.F. airport, and she said that they were on the plane but weren’t taking off because it was snowing too hard. But she called me back after a little while and said that they had let them off the plane and she went and found it! I was so excited! So we met up in Seattle and I got it back that night! But anyways so I got to Salt Lake and had to go switch my flight so I could get back to Seattle since I missed my first flight to Seattle! Then me and my friend went to get Cinnabons and we were eating them and we found hair in both of them! Gross!
But I got home in the end! It has been so nice to finally sleep again! Ever since white glove last Saturday I haven’t been able to go to sleep before 3. I got home Friday night and started cleaning around 6:30 I cleaned till 4:30 when I decided to sleep for a few hours! Then I woke up at 6:30 got ready finished cleaning and went to my voice recital! The rest of the week I just couldn’t sleep before 3 and of course that was the week of finals! Haha! So sleeping in everyday has been nice!
I thought I was going to make it through my whole first semester without any snow, and I was SO excited! But alas at about 10:00 Friday night it started snowing, like real snow! It had snowed a few times before that but not enough to really do anything. But it snowed all night! At about 4:30 in the morning I walked outside to go to my neighbors and it was snowing so hard and the wind was blowing so hard that it was just all white and you couldn’t really see anything! (This does not have me excited for Winter Semester!) By the time I woke up in the morning there was 4 to 6 inches! Haha so I missed missing the snow by less than 24 hours! What a bummer! And then…I come home to snow in Seattle! I just can’t seem to get away from this stuff! At least it’s a bit warmer here! The other night it was 9 degreed! Not fun!
Anyways, I’m excited for Christmas! Now that I’m home and there’s Christmas decorations up and everything it’s finally starting to feel like Christmas! I’m excited for Kristi to come home and then all 6 of us will be here and it will feel like Christmas even more!

Center for Change

The past two days the Center for Change (an eating disorder clinic in Orem, Utah) and the BYU-I counseling center, put on eating disorder seminars. There were 7 in total, I could only go to 4 of them though. I was able to go to one yesterday, it was called "Preventing Eating Disorders: What You Can Know Now That I Didn't Know Then" It was my Becky Mann who currently works as a nurse for the Center of Change. She struggled with an eating disorder starting at the age of 12, but through therapy was able to overcome it. She talked about ways to "eating disorder proof" your home. It was really good.

My favorite one was the one this morning. It was by Lynette Taylor and was called, "The Healing Power of Music in Making Changes from Addictive Behaviors with Food, Diets and Eating Disorders." Lynette is the music therapist at a Center for Change, which is exactly what I want to do! She went here (well Ricks College), and then transferred to Utah State which is exactly what I am planning on doing! She talked about different types of things she does during a therapy session, and it all seems so exciting to me! She did a demonstration with a crystal bowl. When you run a mallet type thing along the outside of the bowl it makes a noise (like running your finger around the edge of a crystal glass), only this was a low noise. You can feel the sound reverberate all up and down your body. When a part of your body is out of alignment the sound will migrate to that place and stay there. For instance if you are having anxiety problems the sound will settle in your stomach, emotional problems you heart, mental problems (like studying too much!) your head. It was so weird to feel it! I felt it in my legs and arms....not to sure what that means yet! But I plan on finding out!

The next when was by Becky Mann again, it was called, "A Personal Journey of Faith, Hope and Recovery From the Ravages of an Eating Disorder." She talked about her personal struggle with an eating disorder, where it came from, how it affected her life, and how she got help. The last one was by Michael Berrett, Gwena Couliard, and Randy Hardman, and they talked about positive self-esteem and stuff like that.

There was about a 30-minute break between two of the seminars so I went and talked to Lynette, the music-therapist. And we were talking and she was telling me how the music-therapy program at Utah State (one of 4 on the West coast) is kind of hard to get into, but if it's something you're really passionate about and really dedicated to, they won't deny you. She was really excited for me! She had gotten e-mail addresses of people who wanted to know more about music therapy and she had me star my name and she was like "Keep in touch! When you get into the program and you need help just email me!" And then she told me that when I was ready I could go down and intern for her!! Ahh! I'm so excited! It was a really good day! And I learned a lot! Now I can't wait to transfer and get to learn more about it! :)
